Saint Louis Flyers

The St. Louis Flyers are a historic midwestern club. They began playing at the St. Louis arena when it initially opened in 1928. They won five playoff titles and six regular season crowns during their 14 seasons in the AHA, the precursor to the USHL. The AHA halted for war in 1942, and when hockey restarted, the Flyers were promoted to the AHL. They struggled in the significantly more difficult league, making the playoffs only twice in nine seasons. They folded in 1953, but they demonstrated that St. Louis was a hockey town. St. Louis would become a top-tier hockey town only a decade and a half after the Flyers collapsed with the addition of the Blues.
