Les Régents de Laval-Laurentides-Lanaudière (Les 3L)

Les Régents de Laval–Laurentides–Lanaudière, known as  “Les 3L” for short were a Midget AAA hockey team in Quebec, representing the combined regions north of Montreal of Laval, Laurentides, and Lanaudière. Competing in the Ligue de hockey midget AAA du Québec, the province’s top level of elite minor hockey, the team served as a key development program for high-level teenage players.

The Régents were particularly strong in the late 1980s, highlighted by a standout 1987–88 season in which they finished first overall and captured the league championship. Les 3L operated as a regional “all-star” program, drawing top talent from multiple local associations. The Régents name was eventually retired as Quebec’s AAA system shifted toward more localized and academy-based structure.

The team produced a number of elite NHLers including goalie Jean-Sébastien Giguère, and scorer Martin St. Louis. Former Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme also played for Les 3L.
