Syracuse Blazers
The Syracuse Blazers were one of the top teams in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and subsequently the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for a decade. The Blazers, who were covered on the radio by a youthful Bob Costas, won the league title in 1973, 1974, and 1977. In 1973, they went an incredible 63-9-4 in league play en route to their first championship, with six players scoring 100 points or more. The Blazers, like the rest of the NAHL, folded in 1977, but not before their home ice of Onondaga County War Memorial was featured in the film Slapshot.
