Sands Point Tigers
The Sands Point Tigers participated in the EAHL for one season in 1942-43, although they were active in New York for several years. From 1933 until 1952, they were a member of the MAHL, a local amateur league in New York that played prior to New York Rover games at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. So, although being from Long Island, the Tigers would play their games in New York City. They must have become ambitious at some point and attempted to move up a league for that one year they spent in the EAHL. Even though they didn't play their games on Long Island, that gives them the distinction of possibly being the first pro hockey team from Long Island.
