Michigan Stags
The Los Angeles Sharks were sold to a group of Detroit investors following the 1973-74 season. They relocated the franchise to Detroit and called it the Michigan Stags. The NHL's Detroit club had missed the playoffs six of the previous seven seasons at the time, so there was anticipation that the Stags would be a better alternative. That proved false after they touched the ice. The team had a poor attendance average and collapsed halfway through the season. The club would be taken over by the WHA and relocated east to become the Baltimore Blades, who didn't last long either.
