Waco Wizards
The Waco Wizards were a short-lived WPHL team who played in Waco's Heart of Texas Coliseum. For the 1996-97 season, they debuted in the brand new WPHL.
The Wizards got off to a shaky start, going through three coaches in their first two seasons and struggling on the ice. They were a league-worst 18-48-0-3 in their second season, 1997-98. However, they would go from worst to first in 1998-99, winning 40 of 69 games and winning the division title. That was their only playoff campaign, and they advanced to the second round. The club was in financial trouble by year four and couldn't pay the rent at their arena. The squad disbanded suddenly 27 games into the 1999-00 season, but not before leaving behind a wicked Wizard logo.
