Quebec Citadelles

The Quebec Citadelles name has a long and storied history in Canadian hockey, representing multiple eras of the sport in Quebec City. The first iteration appeared in 1928, while the first notable Citadelles team came in the 1948, when the Citadelles competed as a junior team and became a powerhouse in developing young talent. That squad featured several future legends, including Jean Bรฉliveau and goaltender Marcel Paille, both of whom went on to star in the NHL.

Decades later, the Citadelles name was revived from 1999 to 2002 as an affiliate of the Canadiens. This version of the team also produced several future NHL players including MIke Ribeiro, Francis Bouillon, Ron Hainsey, and Andrei Markov among others. They played at Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City. The team was quite successful as they finished with a winning record and made the playoffs each season. The team also featured Michel Therrien as coach during their first campaign in 1999-00. The Citadelles ultimately merged into the Hamilton Bulldogs organization, but their legacy endures as a proud chapter in Quebecโ€™s hockey heritage.
