Mohawk Valley Stars
The Utica, NY, area has a long history of hockey. The Mohawk Valley Stars were a Utica team from the mid-80s that competed in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League from 1981 until 1985. They won the league's inaugural championship in 1981-82, defeating the Salem Raiders in six games. They returned to the finals in their second season, only to be defeated in four games by the Carolina Thunderbirds.
