Cleveland Lumberjacks

The Muskegon Lumberjacks packed up and headed south to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1992, after spending more than three decades in Muskegon, Michigan. It was done as part of the IHL's growth into large regions and competing directly with the AHL. The Lumberjacks were successful in Cleveland, lasting nine seasons and making the playoffs six times. During that period, they had a number of pro affiliations, which led to a slew of future major leaguers on their teams, including JP Dumont, Evgeni Nabokov, Markus Naslund, Marty St. Louis, and many more. Todd McLellan would even take over as head coach in the team's last season. After 2000-01, the IHL folded, and the Lumberjacks followed suit.
