Nashville Dixie Flyers
The Music City's first hockey team, the Nashville Dixie Flyers, began play in the EHL in 1962 at the Municipal Auditorium. They were an instant success, making the playoffs in all but one of their nine seasons and winning the EHL championship twice in 1966 and 1967. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to keep the team solvent, and they disbanded in 1971 due to financial troubles. However, their memory lives on in the yellow that the city's NHL club presently wears.
