Erie Panthers
The Erie Panthers began play in Erie, PA in the 1988-89 season, taking over where the Erie Golden Blades left off when they disbanded in 1987. The Panthers were an instant success at Tullio Arena (now Erie Insurance Arena).
The Panthers were noted for their high-scoring, fast-paced offense. In fact, in each of their first two seasons, they lead the league in goals. They would win more than 50% of their matches and make the playoffs in each of their first five seasons. Unfortunately, they were never able to make much of a postseason run, being eliminated in either the first or second round. The Panthers would cool down on the ice by 1993-94, and they would miss the playoffs three years in a row. They would relocate to Louisiana after the 1995-96 season.
