Winston-Salem Polar Twins

The Wintson-Salem Polar Twins were nicknamed after Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the "twin city." They were an expansion team in the Winston-Salem Memorial Coliseum for the inaugural season of the SHL in 1973-74. The Polar Twins were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in each of their first three seasons. The squad was sold to Jim Crockett Jr, a notable wrestling promoter, prior to their fourth season. Unfortunately, the Polar Twins did not complete their fourth season, and the SHL folded in January 1977.
