Philadelphia Firebirds

The Philadelphia Firebirds entered the NAHL in 1974-75 with an odd looking bird logo. The red and yellow in the logo combines to form an 'F' for Firebirds in a unique color scheme. On the ice, the Firebirds had success with future NHL goalie Rejean Lemelin, winning the NAHL championship in 1976. The Firebirds moved to the AHL after the 1976-77 season. After that, the club would play two more seasons in Philadelphia before relocating to Syracuse, New York for one last season. Paul Stewart, a long-time NHL referee, and 1980 Olympic star Mike Eruzione both played with the Firebirds.
