Jackson Bandits

The Jackson Bandits began as the Chesapeake Icebreakers before relocating to Jackson, Mississippi for the 1999-00 season. They were the first and last professional hockey club to play at the Mississippi Coliseum. Derek Clancey, a former Icebreakers player-assistant, would be their coach.

On the ice, the squad was fairly successful, going 32-32 in their first season and improving to 39-24 in 2000-01. The Bandits won 34 and 38 games in their last two seasons, respectively, and made the playoffs in all three.

Unfortunately, the organization ran into financial difficulties, and its plans to construct a new arena didn't work out. With attendance declining, the team would close its doors in 2003.
