Muskegon Mohawks
The Muskegon Mohawks, also known as the Muskegon Zephyrs from 1960 to 1965, were a fixture of the previous IHL, skating in the LC Walker Sports Arena from 1965 until 1984. They made the playoffs in 14 of their 19 IHL seasons, including three finals appearances in 1968, 1969, and 1972. They won their sole IHL playoff title in 1968, under the direction of long-time coach Moose Lallo and former NHLer Carl Brewer. They would win the league with 43 victories and only one loss in the playoffs that year. The squad would go on to have a string of 40-win seasons throughout the 1970s. However, due to financial constraints in the early 1980s, the Mohawks were sold and relaunched as the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
