Abbotsford Falcons

The Abbotsford Falcons were a short-lived junior 'A' hockey team from Abbotsford, British Columbia. The team was created when the Revelstoke Rangers franchise moved to Abbotsford for the 1985-86 season, filling the void left when the Abbotsford Flyers departed for Delta.

The Falcons spent three mostly unsuccessful seasons in Abbotsford, winning 47 of 156 games. They also went through numerous head coaches, with five different coaches over the three seasons. They did have two players eventually make it to the NHL. Enforcer Link Gaetz played two games for the team, and goalie Olaf Kolzig played 17 games for the Falcons in 1987-88. Kolzig had a 6.09 GAA with the Falcons, but of course went on to be an exceptional NHLer. After the 1987-88 season the franchise moved again, becoming the New Westminster Royals.
