Des Moines Capitols
The Des Moines Capitols joined the IHL in 1972-73 after the Des Moines Oak Leafs relaunched as the Capitols. They played in the Des Moines Ice Arena, which is still in operation today. They would win the regular season title with a 45-25-6 record in their second season as the Capitols, as well as the playoff crown, defeating Saginaw in four games. The Capitols folded at the end of the 1974-75 season after a less than stellar season.
