Port Huron
Port Huron, Michigan's east coast city, is rich in hockey history and home to the famous McMorran Arena. The arena first opened its doors in 1960 and has since hosted a number of professional hockey teams.
Port Huron, which became an IHL city in 1962, was the site of two decades of IHL hockey, including three championships; two from the Flags and one from the Wings. When the IHL departed in 1981, there was a pro hockey void at the arena until the Border Cats of the UHL moved in from 1996 to 2002. The UHL would continue with the Beacons and Flags through 2007, since there was a revolving cast of teams during the 00s. The resurrected IHL would resurface in 2007 with a team in Port Huron known as the IceHawks. The NAHL's Fighting Falcons lasted four seasons there after they left in 2010. Since 2015-16, it has been home to the FHL's Prowlers, who won the league title in 2016, the city's first pro hockey title since 1972.
