Columbus Mad Cows

The Columbus Mad Cows might be the only team we feature that were "one night only"! The Columbus Chill held a special promotion where they rebranded for one night as the Mad Cows. 

The Chill were facing having to close up shop or leave town in 1997 ahead of the NHL entering the market. However, at this point it wasn't known what the NHL team would be called. Playing off that impending announcement the Chill called their own press conference to announce they would re-brand as the Mad Cows. The speculation and buzz around it was the implication that the NHL team had negotiated for the 'Chill' moniker. However, that wasn't the case and the Chill had just pulled another in a long line of excellent promotional stunts on their Columbus market.
