Clinton Comets

The Clinton Comets, one of the EHL's most famous teams, brought big-time hockey to a little hamlet in Oneida County, New York. Clinton hockey dates back to the 1920s as the Comets played as an independent club for many years. The club entered the Eastern League in 1954, where they would play for the following 19 seasons. They were wildly successful, as they only missed the playoffs three times while winning the league five times (1959, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1970). When the EHL failed, the team relocated to Utica, NY, and became the Mohawk Valley Comets of the NAHL. The Mohawk Valley Comets folded with the NAHL in 1977, but the hockey heritage in Clinton survived, and the Historic Clinton Arena still holds games today. Clinton was also dubbed Kraft Hockeyville in 2018, and the arena hosted an NHL pre-season game.
