Boston Tigers / Boston Cubs
For the 1926-27 season, the Boston Tigers joined the Can-Am Hockey League (CAHL). The league was a precursor to the current AHL. In their third season, 1928-29, the Tigers won the Henri Fontaine Trophy as playoff winners against the Providence Reds. The next year, they were defeated in the finals by the same Reds. The team was renamed and adopted the 'Cubs' moniker sometime around 1931. The Cubs would go on to win the league title twice more, in 1933 and 1935. The team collapsed after the 1935-36 season.
