Muskegon Zephyrs
Muskegon, a community in western Michigan, has a rich hockey history dating back to the 1930s. The Zephyrs were the city's first professional club, arriving in 1960 to play at the brand-new LC Walker Arena. From 1960 to 1965, they competed in the IHL for five years, winning the championship in 1961-62. The squad was nicknamed after Zephyr gasoline, which was sold at a network of gas stations at the time. The Zephyrs were renamed the Mohawks in 1965, and the franchise lasted until 1984.
