Broome County Dusters

The Broome/Binghamton Dusters were the first in a long series of hockey teams to play in Binghamton's Veterans Memorial Arena. The Dusters rose to national prominence after appearing as one of the opposing teams in the film Slapshot.

From 1973 until 1977, the team was known as the Broome Dusters after their home county of Broome, but the name was subsequently changed to the Binghamton Dusters after the original NAHL club disbanded and a new franchise took its place. The Dusters' moniker hasn't been used in Binghamton since the 1970s, although the city has maintained a hockey presence since then.

You have a keen eye if the cartoon figure in the Dusters' emblem appears familiar. John Hart, the creator of the comic strips 'Wizard of ID' and 'B.C.,' developed the logo, which features an ice-skating caveman. With the consent of the Ida Hart Trust, we proudly sell these designs at Vintage Ice Hockey. Mr. Hart's legacy goes on today, with new comics available at JohnHartStudios.com.
