New Haven Beast
The New Haven Beast were a minor league team with one of the most unusual logos you'll ever see. The franchise began in Greensboro, North Carolina, and relocated north for the 1997-98 season, becoming associated with Carolina, who had relocated south from Hartford at the same time.
With 38 and 33 wins in their first two seasons, the Beast were decent on the ice. Oleg Kvasha, Mark Parrish, and Peter Worrell were among the team's players with big league experience. Their gargoyle-like emblem, which looks more at home at a Halloween party than a hockey arena, will undoubtedly be what the team is most remembered for. The Beast disbanded after their second season because they lacked a pro affiliation.
