Philadelphia Arrows
The Philadelphia Arrows were the city's original pro hockey team, debuting in the CAHL in 1927 at Philadelphia Arena, the antecedent of the Spectrum. They were also the first of a few teams in Philadelphia history to struggle on the ice. In what was primarily a six-team competition, the Arrows were eliminated in the first round or did not make the playoffs at all in seven of their eight seasons. They did have one particularly good season in 1932-33, winning 29 of 48 games and advancing to the league finals, where they were defeated by the Boston Cubs. The team's name was changed to the Ramblers in 1935-36 as it became a New York farm club and remained so until 1941.
