New Haven Bears
The New Haven Bears were the first in a long series of New Haven, CT hockey clubs. In 1922, the Bears joined the USAHA, a senior amateur league. The league began with teams from Massachusetts and New York, but by the 1920s, it had grown to include teams from as far west as Pittsburgh and Minnesota. The Bears were only in the league for two seasons, 1922-23 and 1923-24. After one more season, the league would fold. The Bears name would be revived in the late 1940s/early 1950s by a senior amateur team from New Haven. The original Bears squad did utilize a logo with a bear's head profile, which we attempted to reproduce and modernize in our design.
