Motor City Mechanics
The Motor City Mechanics were a UHL team that existed for a short time in the mid-2000s. The Mechanics began their career in the UHL during the 2004-05 season, which, as you may recall, was the year when the NHL lockout canceled the whole season. The Mechanics were the sole club in the Detroit area playing hockey that season, playing in Fraser, Michigan. Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher, Sean Avery, and Bryan Smolinksi were among the professional players that joined the Mechanics. Despite their firepower, the Mechanics would miss the playoffs in their inaugural season. It became even worse when the team's coach was banned for allegedly putting a bounty on an opposing player.
Their second season saw them have a nearly identical record, with three more victories, but this time they made the playoffs. But in the playoffs they would be swept in the first round and would dissolve following the season.
