Jackson Bandits
The Chesapeake Icebreakers moved to Jackson, Mississippi for the 1999–2000 season, and rebranded to become the Jackson Bandits. They were the first and -- to this point -- final professional team to set up shop in Jackson, and they played their home games at the Mississippi Coliseum. Derek Clancey, a player-assistant with the Icebreakers, would serve as their coach.
The squad had a respectable record on the ice, going 32-32 in their inaugural campaign before improving to an excellent 39-24 in 2000-01. In their final two campaigns, the Bandits would win 34 and 38 games while making the playoffs in each of their final three campaigns.
Unfortunately, the group's attempts to construct a new arena were unsuccessful due to financial problems. The team would disband in 2003 as attendance continued to decline.
