San Francisco Spiders

The San Francisco Spiders were a one-year wonder in the International Hockey League (IHL) for the 1995-96 season, playing at the historic Cow Palace in Daly City, California.

The coaching staff had a top-level pedigree. Montreal Canadiens coach Jean Perron was brought in as the coach and GM, and his assistant coach was future NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau. The team featured a number of Sharks players and would win 40 of 82 games, good enough for third place in the division.

The team had attendance troubles and would average around 5,000 fans per game for the season. The Spiders folded after that single year, reportedly losing $6 million along the way.
