Winnipeg Warriors
The Winnipeg Warriors were originally a minor league hockey team, starting way back in 1955 at the Winnipeg Arena. That team played in the old WHL and won the 1956 league title with classic stars such as Ed Shero and Bill Mosienko. The team actually opened Winnipeg Arena back then on Oct 18, 1955 with a game against the Calgary Stampeders. This iteration of the Warriors would run for six seasons.
In the mid 1960s, a junior A team reprised the Warriors moniker for a few seasons but the team didn't last long. The other significant iteration of the Warriors was in the 1980s, as the WHL (now a junior league) brought the name back to Winnipeg with a different colour scheme that was red, white, and black. Much like the other two Warriors teams, this one only lasted a few seasons.
