Brantford Alexanders

The Brantford Alexanders were created when the Hamilton then St. Cathatines Fincups moved to Brantford in 1978. The team was named for famous Brantford resident, Alexander Graham Bell and took on the name that the local senior league team had been using for a couple years. They played at the Brantford Civic Centre, the "Madhouse on Market Street"

The Fincups had been very successful on the ice - although not attracting enough fans off of it - and won the 1976 Memorial Cup. The Alexanders made the playoffs in five of their six seasons in Brantford, but weren't able to capture another title.

There were a number of notable Alexanders that made the NHL including Shayne Corson, Dave Gagner and Bob Probert among others.
