Greenville Grrrowl

The Greenville Grrrowl started play for the 1998-99 season at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The team spent eight seasons there, all of which were coaching by John Marks, a former Chicago Blackhawk. That's an impressive feat as most teams get a new coach every few years. 

The Grrrowl had a successful run, which stated in their second season where they won 46 games and made it all the way to the playoff final where they lost to Perioa. Two years later in 2001-02, the team won 43 games and this time were able to with the playoff title, making it all the way to the final where they defeated Dayton. 

Unfortunately for the Grrrowl, attendance would decline after their championship season, and the team was in substantial debt. Efforts to save the Grrrowl didn't work and the team folded after the 2005-06 season. 

The Grrrowl had a few alumni make it to the NHL including Krys Barch, Alexandre Burrows, and Tim Sesito.
