Bakersfield Fog

The Bakersfield Fog started play in 1995-96 in the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL). The WCHL was the minor-pro successor to the Pacific Southwest Hockey League that had operated as a semi-pro league from 1972 through 1995, and in that league Bakersfield had the Bruins through 1988.

As for the Fog, they joined the new WCHL as a founding member and played at the Bakersfield Convention Center. The team grabbed a big name to coach them, as Keith Gretzky coached the team for all three of their seasons. They would make the playoffs in two of those seasons, but fell in the first round each time.
